We're a settlement agency

The Timmins & District Multicultural Centre is a non-profit organization serving the settlement needs of newcomers to Canada in the districts of Timmins and Cochrane including the municipalities of Matachewan, Iroquois Falls, Val Gagne, Black River Matheson, Timmins, Cochrane, Kapuskasing and Hearst. The southern region is covered by our head office, the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre.

Our Timmins office opened in May 2011.

We house the Local Immigration Partnership

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are community-wide, multi-sectoral partnerships working to strengthen a community’s capacity to welcome newcomers and improve integration outcomes through enhanced economic, social, political and civic participation. There are 77 LIP initiatives across Canada, they are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

The Timmins Local Immigration Partnership (or TLIP) has been in operation since 2005. To learn more about the Timmins LIP go here.

Timmins office opens in 2011

The Timmins & District Multicultural Centre evolved from the work of the Timmins Ecocomic Development Corporation, in partnership with the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre.

The Timmins & District Multicultural Centre opened its doors in May 2011.
